Hello and welcome to olsonD.com - My name is Andrew Olson.
I am a recent graduate from the University of Minnesota where I received a BS degree in architecture. I have been interested in photography and design for as long as I can remember. (Thankfully, architecture allowed me to pursue both.)
To many, architecture and photography appear to be separate fields, but I have found that they share many underlying principles. In the same way that an architect must pay attention to the surrounding landscape, lighting, colors, proportions, and the inhabitants of a space… A photographer must also consider these elements if he/she wants to compose a dynamic and expressive image.
I am very thankful that I have been able to blend my skills in photography with my background in design, because I honesty can’t imagine choosing between them.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments!
Well… one of them is definitely photography. (As you may have guessed) However, I do enjoy a variety of other activities. Some of them include: traveling, cooking, horseback riding, drawing, and skiing.
Whether behind the camera or having a face-to-face conversation… I make sure to establish a connection with all of the people that are involved. This link is what leads to genuine emotions and complete satisfaction. I am constantly looking for new ways to utilize my skills, and love a good challenge… so please don’t hesitate to shoot over some project ideas!
On the technical side…
Computer programs that I use on a regular basis include: AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, 3DS Max, Sketchup, Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign, After Effects, and Premiere.
